After sharing the first four frames, Robbo went 3-2 thanks to a break of 59 in frame five. But an inspired run from O’Sullivan saw him take the next three with top breaks of 54, 70 and 103. The world number one was not ready to throw the towel in quite yet, and forced a decider thanks to runs of 80 and 125 but a superbly composed break of 119 in the final frame saw him secure the win.
He’ll play Stuart Bingham in the final, after he defeated UK and Masters champion Mark Selby 6-4 with a fine performance in the afternoon semi. Bingham led 4-1 thanks to top runs of 74 and 73 in the early stages but Selby drew level with three frames in a row. However Ball run Bingham kept his composure and guaranteed the win by taking the next two frames.
