World Open Day 4

Mark Allen, who made a great comeback to beat Judd Trump
(not my picture)
All eyes were on the Judd Trump v Mark Allen match in Thursday’s afternoon session as the two met yet again this season. However, early on it seemed as though the match would be very one sided with Trump racing to a 3-0 lead. But Allen secured the fourth frame to go in 3-1 down at the interval and incredibly won the next three on the bounce to go 4-3 ahead. Trump won the eight to take the match into a tense decider and with the momentum, Allen got in the balls and managed to clear up to secure a momentous victory. Mark Selby had the edge over Michael Holt, beating him 5-3 whilst Shaun Murphy defeated Joe Perry by the same scoreline. The fourth afternoon match was also a close one with Mark King defeating Tom Ford after a deciding frame.

In the evening session, Stephen Lee kept up his impressive form of late by recording a 5-2 win over the defending champion Neil Robertson. John Higgins whitewashed Jamie Cope to progress through to the quarter finals whilst Jin Long, who shocked Ding Junhui in the first round, was beaten 5-2 by Robert Milkins. Finally in the all Scottish affair, Graeme Dott knocked out Marcus Campbell in a 5 frames to 3 victory.
