Judd Trump cruised to a 9-1 victory over Peter Ebdon to book
his place in a second consecutive ranking event final. The victory also sees
the Bristolian reach the summit of the world rankings for the first time in his
career, replacing Mark Selby as world number one.
Trump won the first three opening frames with Ebdon conceding
the third 27 points down despite their being 35 points left on the table,
earning him a warning from referee Zhou Ying. However, the 42-year-old pulled
one back before the interval to trail 3-1. However Trump won the next four
after the interval to hold a healthy 7-1 lead going into the evening session.
The 2011 UK Champion’s dominance continued in the second
session with breaks of 51 and 63 securing the convincing win. He will be hoping
to beat either Neil Robertson or Shaun Murphy, who play their semi-final on
tomorrow, in Sunday’s final after the disappointment of losing the Shanghai
Masters final against John Higgins back in September and claim the £125,000
prize.
