Martin Gould is the new Snooker Shoot-Out Champion with an excellent win over Mark Allen in the final |
Martin Gould secured the 2013 Betfair Snooker Shoot-Out with
a one-sided 104-0 victory over Mark Allen in the final. Gould hit separate breaks
of 48 and 56 in the final at the Tower Circus in Blackpool to secure the title
and winner’s prize of £32,000.
The world number 19 pulled defeated Michael Holt in the semis
whilst Allen pulled out an excellent pot on the final black, clipping it in
thinly, to secure a 60-53 win over Stephen Maguire.
The first quarter-final of the evening saw Gould secure victory over Widnes’ Andrew Higginson which followed by Stephen Maguire’s victory over defending champion Barry Hawkins. Maguire built up a lead of 56 before allowing Hawkins in but he was only able to record a break of 37.
Next up was Mark Allen’s 47-13 win over the lowest ranked player in the final eight, world number 68 Kurt Maflin. Finally, Nottingham’s Michael Holt pulled out an excellent comeback from 28-11 down to beat Mark Williams 36-28.
