Stuart Bingham is the second man through to the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions after he defeated Judd Trump 6-2 in the Group 3 quarter-final. The Premier League champion started in fine fashion, first taking the opener on the final black, before compiling further breaks of 111 and 78 to race 3-0 up. Trump took the next before the interval and a run of 56 in the fifth saw him close to 3-2. However, Bingham dominated the next two before nicking the eighth on the colours to seal a semi-final match against Mark Selby.

Bingham had earlier put in a ruthless performance to defeat 2012 Wuxi Classic Champion Ricky Walden 4-0. Bingham took the opener with a break of 75 and then won a closely contested second. He then knocked in a 60 break to win the third before securing victory by winning frame four 73-0.

Trump had also won his opening round match in convincing fashion, defeating Marco Fu 4-1. The Australian Goldfields Open Champion took the opener but it was all downhill from there as Trump, winner of last season’s International Championship dominated from there on in. He made breaks of 65 and 69 in frames two and five respectively to complete the victory.
