Players Championship Day 4

Gerard Greene’s impressive run at the Guild Hall this week continued as he booked his place in the semi-finals with a 4-2 win over fellow Northern Irishman Mark Allen. It was certainly a very scrappy match and Greene undoubtedly benefitted from the rub of the green but that won’t bother him.

Up next for Greene is Michael Holt who knocked in some excellent breaks to defeat John Higgins 4-1. Runs of 87, 75, 79 and 66 helped the Hong Kong man into the final four whilst Higgins made a 111 break in the third.

Barry Hawkins ended Yu Delu’s impressive run with a 4-1 victory. Delu had beaten Ronnie O’Sullivan in the last 16 on Thursday, but could do little to stop the Hawk who hit runs of 56, 90 and 60 to complete the win.

He plays Judd Trump in the semis after he beat Joe Perry 4-2 in a high quality match. Trump took the opener with an 89 but Perry hit back with back-to-back centuries, 133 and 121. However Trump rounded out the win with an 86 and a 71 before taking the sixth on the colours.
