Marcus Campbell is one of the four semi-finalists after a terrific 5-3 win over Mark Williams |
Stuart Bingham’s excellent run of form continues after he
progressed to the semi-finals of the Wuxi Classic with a 5-4 win over world
number 1 Mark Selby. Bingham, who has already won two titles this month, was
3-1 up over the Leicester player at the interval although Selby rallied back to
win three of the next four to force a decider. However Bingham remained in
control to seal the deserved win to reach the last four for a third competition
in a row. He will play Mark Davis tomorrow afternoon after he whitewashed
Scotland’s Graeme Dott 5-0 to reach his first ranking event semi-final in his
21-year career.
Despite almost being knocked out of the competition in
embarrassing circumstances yesterday, Ricky Walden put in an excellent
performance to push past another in-form player at the moment, Robert Milkins.
Milkins was 3-1 ahead after winning the first two and fourth frames but Walden
returned from the interval in fighting spirit and after producing a 104 break
in the second frame, recorded another century in the fifth with a 102. He won
the sixth to go level and Milkins began to crumble, allowing Walden to record
the two additional frames he needed for a 5-3 victory.
Walden’s opponent in the other semi will be Marcus Campbell
as he recorded an impressive win over former World Champion Mark Williams. The
Scot had a two frame advantage at the interval and despite The Welsh Potting
machine making it 3-3, Campbell continued to play well to win the next two
frames.
