APTC2

Stephen Lee was crowned champion of APTC2 after defeating
Ding Junhui 4-0 in the final
Stephen Lee became champion of the second Asian Players Tour Championship in Yixing after defeating local hero Ding Junhui, 4-0, in the final. The man from Trowbridge eased through the match with a top break of 97 and now moves upto number 6 in the world rankings. Lee, who was crowned champion at the PTC Grand Finals back in March, will automatically qualify for this season’s Grand Finals after winning the event.

The event had a strong Chinese participation, right up to the semi-final stage with three out of the four semi-finalists being of Chinese origin. Lee defeated Xiao Guodong 4-2 in his semi who had earlier beaten Australian Goldfields Open winner, Barry Hawkins after a decider in the Quarters. Ding meanwhile, overcame compatriot Cao Yupeng, 4-2.

Yupeng had defeated Chinese amateur player Jin Long at the Quarter finals stage who had done excellently to reach the last eight considering his non-professional status. The other quarter finals saw Lee defeat Robert Milkins 4-1 whilst Ding beat Marcus Campbell 4-1.
