Neil robertson is through to the Quarter-Finals after defeating Ding Junhui in a deciding frame |
Defending Champion Neil Robertson came back from 5-3 down to
win a deciding frame against Ding Junhui to progress to the Quarter-Finals at
the Masters. The Aussie started the match well by winning the first two frames
but Ding hit back impressively to win the next two. The following two frames
were shared but Ding went within a frame of victory by securing the seventh and
eighth frames. However Robbo dug deep with a 100 break to take frame nine
before coming from 50-0 down to knock in a 62 clearance to make it 5-5. A cool
90 break secured the match in dramatic style as Robertson shouted ‘You Beauty!’
after potting frame ball.
He will face Mark Allen in the next round after the Ulsterman
eased his was past Mark Davis, 6-2. The match was tied at 2-2 at the interval
which included a terrific 136 clearance from Allen in the opening frame. A 79
break in frame five saw him go back ahead and the lead was extended to 4-2 as
he won the next. Davis had a chance to narrow the gap as he was in the balls in
frame seven but missed which allowed Allen to go 5-2 up and a break of 80 in
the eighth secured victory.
