Masters Day 6

Graeme Dott easilly saw off Judd Trump to reach the Masters
semi-finals for the first time
Graeme Dott made the biggest upset of the Masters so far after defeating world number two Judd Trump 6-1. Trump’s performance seemed lacklustre throughout and did not make a 50+ break all match. A missed pink from Trump in the opener allowed Dott to take the early lead and the Scot also took the second frame after errors from both players. Trump claimed the next frame with breaks of 47 and 36 but Dott took the last frame before the break to lead 3-1.

Dott extended his lead after the interval after being given three chances by his opponent and went within a frame of victory by securing the sixth. The world number 12 then rounded off the match in style with a fantastic 111 break to reach the semi-finals of the Masters for the first time in his career.

He will face Mark Selby tomorrow evening after he defeated Mark Williams in another fairly poor quality match of snooker, which also finished 6-1. A scrappy start to the match saw Selby take a 42-minute opener and he also won a closely fought second. Selby also took frame three on the colours and made it 4-0 by winning the next for a very healthy lead at the interval.

Williams finally got a frame on the scoreboard thanks to a cracking pot on the yellow but a 73 break from Selby in the next all but secured the match. More missed pots from Williams in frame seven allowed Selby to secure the match with two separate breks.
