Shaun Murphy finally ended Jack Lisowski’s run in the China
Open after he came from 4-2 down to beat him in a deciding frame. Jack got a
taste of his own medicine after he also came back from a 4-2 deficit to beat
Mark Davis yesterday. Although Lisowski won the opener with a break of 67,
Murphy hit an excellent 137 to take the second before benefitting from an
outrageous fluke on the final black to lead 2-1. However, Jack hit a break of
71 to draw level at the interval and looked at ease winning the next two frames
to go 4-2 up. But Jack was unable to take the chances in the next couple of
frames as the pendulum swung in Murphy’s favour and the Sale man dominated the
decider to progress to tomorrow’s semi-finals.
He’ll face Mark Selby in the first semi after he defeated
Mark Williams 5-1. The first two frames were shared but Selby pulled out an
advantage at the interval, winning the next two. He then won the following two
after the break, including a break of 72 in frame six.
Neil Robertson put in another impressive performance as he
saw off Marcus Campbell 5-2. A break of 50 put the Scot ahead but Robertson hit
back with break of 87 and 89. Campbell levelled the scores at the interval but
could do little after the break as Robertson dominated, including runs of 50
and 113.
Stephen Maguire completes the semi-final line-up after he
eased past Stuart Bingham 5-1. A 102 in the opener set Maguire on his way to
win the first three frames. Bingham responded by taking frame four on the black
but was unable to halt Maguire as he secured the match, including a run of 73
in frame five.
