Mark Allen secured his second ranking event title 12 months after his first, by beating Matthew Stevens 10-4 in Sunday's final. Image: World Snooker |
Stevens stopped the rot after the interval, making breaks of
67 and 112 but Allen re-affirmed his two-frame cushion, winning seven and eight
including a 100 break in the latter. Stevens pulled one back in the last frame
of the session to go into the evening session trailing 6-3.
Allen stretched his advantage back to four again by winning
the opener of the concluding session but a 100 break from Stevens saw him make
it 7-4. However Allen won the next two before the interval as well as the 14th
with a break of 68 to secure the victory and pick up the £85,000 winner’s
prize.
