Judd Trump came through a final frame decider to beat Shaun Murphy and secure a spot in the semi-finals. The scores were locked at 8-8 after the second session and the next six frames with Murphy making top runs of 128 and 70 whilst Trump made a 77. The Bristolian went within a frame of victory by hitting a break of 90 in frame 23 but Murphy made an 88 to force a final frame. Trump got the better of a tense final frame, taking it 66-32.

He’ll play Ronnie O’Sullivan who gave a no-nonsense performance to defeat Stuart Bingham 13-4. The rocket led 7-1 after the first session and looked on course to wrap up the match with a session to spare but Bingham won the last three frames of the session with top runs of 70 and 60. But O’Sullivan swiftly ended any chance of an extraordinary comeback by taking frame 17 to seal the match.

After beating Mark Selby in the last round, Barry Hawkins knocked out another higher-ranked player by defeating Ding Junhui 13-7. The Ditton man held a slender 9-7 advantage after the second session and won four frames on the bounce, with high breaks of 64 and 60 to seal the victory.

Ricky Walden will be his opponent in the semis after the Chester man defeated young Welsh protégé Michael White 13-6. Walden was already 10-6 up coming into the final session and runs of 50 and 60 helped him to win the next three to secure the victory. It had still been an excellent run for white at the tournament, defeating childhood hero Mark Williams on the way to his first ever ranking quarter-final.
