He’ll face world number two Mark Selby in tomorrow’s second semi-final after he defeated Mark Davis 5-3. The Leicester man won a scrappy opener on the colours before taking the next two with runs of 60 and 48. Davis responded winning the next three in a row to close to 3-3 but Selby finished the stronger, winning the next two, including a break of 65 in the eighth.
Robert Milkins’ impressive start to the campaign continues as he secured a spot in the semi-finals of a second consecutive event, having reached the same stage at the Wuxi Classic. He did this by beating Tom Ford during the evening session. Gloucester’s Milkins won the opener with a 66 break before taking the next on the colours. Ford nicked the next on the final black but Milkins won frame four to lead 3-1 at the interval. Ford made a break of 51 to close to 3-2 but Milkins won two of the next three to seal the win.
He plays Marco Fu who won Friday’s other quarter-final with a 5-1 victory over Dominic Dale in a match of high quality snooker. Fu took the opening two with runs of 94 and 131 before Dale responded with a 112 in the third. Fu won the fourth to lead 3-1 at the break and wrapped up the match winning the next two with top runs of 130 and 60.
