Shanghai Masters - Day 4

Joe Perry played excellently to whitewash Neil Roberston and
book a place in the Quarter-Finals
All the last 16 matches were played out on Thursday at the Shanghai Masters with the surprise result being Joe Perry’s 5-0 demolition of Australian Neil Robertson. Ali Carter’s 5-0 drubbing of world number 6 Stephen Maguire, including a break of 120 also raised a few eyebrows whilst John Higgins cruised through to the Quarters finals as he also whitewashed his opponent, Ryan Day.

In two other afternoon session matches, Mark Williams shook of the challenge of Ricky Walden with a 5-2 win. The pair had been locked at 2-2 at the interval but Williams upped his game to secure the next three frames to send him through. Meanwhile, Stuart Bingham defeated Jamie Cope 5-1, who had beaten Mark Selby in the First Round a few days beforehand.

Judd Trump fought back well from being 2-0 down to defeat Northern Irishman Mark Allen. In the other evening session matches, Graeme Dott beat Stephen Lee 5-1 whilst Shaun Murphy defeated Mark King 5-3. Murphy had held a 3-0 lead and although King brought it back to 3-2 and 4-3, Murphy was victorious in the eighth to take the match.
