Shanghai Masters Day 5

Mark Williams will face Judd Trump in the semi-finals after he
defeated Joe Perry 5-4
Judd Trump once again provided an exciting match at the Shanghai Masters as he scraped past Graeme Dott after a deciding frame to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Trump had been 4-1 up at one stage but the Scot produced a fantastic run of three frames to force a ninth frame. However Trump remained composed an compiled a fantastic 108 to seal the match.

Trump will face Mark Williams who also needed a deciding frame to squeeze past Joe Perry. Perry was 3-2 up after five frames although Williams went within one frame of victory when he won the next two but for a fantastic 131 break from Perry who made it 4-4. Perry had the first chance in the decider but sportingly called a foul on himself which neither Williams or the referee had spotted and The Welsh Potting Machine later went onto compile a 75 break to win the match.

Scot John Higgins kept up his impressive Shanghai Masters by defeating Ali Carter 5-3. Higgins had led 4-1 and despite a mini-revival from Carter who made it 4-3, Higgins remained in control of the eighth frame to seal his progress. He will face Shaun Murphy in the semis who comfortably saw off Stuart Bingham, 5-1.
