Judd Trump will meet John Higgins in the Shanghai Masters final as the two both won their respective semi-finals on Saturday |
Judd Trump recorded a tense 6-4 victory over Mark Williams to
secure his place in the final of the 2012 Shanghai Masters. Trump looked
comfortable early on winning the first two frames with 50+ breaks and despite
Williams winning the third, Trump won the next three in a row to cruise into a
5-1 lead with just one frame needed for victory. However the Welsh Potting
Machine was not ready to throw the towel in and he too took three frames on the
bounce to close the gap to 5-4 but a break of 58 for the world number 2 ensured
passage into Sunday’s final.
The final will be a repeat of the 2011 World Championship
after John Higgins eased past Shaun Murphy 6-3 in the evening session. Sale’s
Murphy did win the opening two frames but Higgins won the third and fourth to
ensure the scores were level at the interval. Murphy went ahead again by
winning the fifth but the Scot got into rhythm and won the next four in a row,
including a 135 break in the eighth, to advance.
