After his excellent voctory over defending champions Ricky Walden, Jimmy White was knocked out of the tournamnet by Robert Milkins. The Gloucester man took the first three frames and remained in control for the rest of the match.
Elsewhere during the morning session, Peter Lines continued his good run in the tournament, beating Andrew Higginson 5-2. He'll face Matthew Stevens tomorrow after the Welshman defeated Liang Wenbo 5-3. Leicester's Ben Woollaston is also through to the last 16 after he defeated Joel Walker 5-2.
Mark Williams came through an exciting match which went the distance as he beat Jack Lisowski 5-4. Williams took the opener but Lisowski won the next three to lead at the interval as both players attacked from the start. The Welshman, who has a new cue this season, then won the next two, including a break of 104 in frame five. A 56 from Lisowski but him back in front but Williams finished the stronger and took the match with runs of 51 and 71.
Another man with a new cue, John Higgins, also progressed after a solid 5-1 victory over Dechawat Poomjaeng, who has played well ever since reaching the Crucible. The Thai took the opener but Higgins hit breaks of 138, 70, 55 and 75 to seal the win.
Pre-tournament favourite Neil Robertson continues his progress in the event and knocked in breaks of 51, 86, 88 and 77 as he went onto beat Martin Gould 5-2. Marco Fu made century breaks of 122 and 115 but he was beaten 5-4 by Mark King and in the afternoon's other match, Ireland's David Morris defeated Northern Ireland's Gerard Greene 5-2.
Joe Perry's impressive form continued after he knocked out fans' favourite Ding Junhui in the pick of the evening session results. The Wisbech man, who won the Asian Tour event in Yixing on Saturday, was visibly high on confidence as he knocked in breaks of 69, 71, 80 and 70 on course to a 5-1 win.
On the other TV table, Ali Carter put in a solid display to whitewash 15-year-old Lyu Haotian. Lyu didn't do a lot wrong in the match but Carter was tight and gifted him few chances and runs of 75, 74 and 73 saw him secure a last 16 tie with Morris.
Tamworth's Dave Gilbert made breaks of 106, 73, 66 and 100 as he defeated Alan McManus 5-2 whilst Scott Donaldson's excellent start to the season continued as he beat Jimmy Robertson 5-4. Another final frame decider was needed in the all Chinese-affair, as Xiao Guodong defeated Judd Trump's conquerer Li Hang.
